DESIDERATA
DESIDERATA is a four-year European initiative aimed at revolutionizing manufacturing through sustainable chemical innovation. The project's primary focus is developing safe alternatives to hazardous substances currently used in industrial processes, with particular emphasis on three key areas: surfactants, flame retardants, and plasticizers.
Through real-world industrial applications, DESIDERATA works to validate the European Commission's Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework. The project addresses a crucial market need by developing novel substitutes for Substances of Concern (SoC) in various industrial sectors, including construction, injection molding, and 3D printing - areas where safe alternatives are currently unavailable.
This project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme (Innovation Action - IA) in the Digital, Industry, and Space areas, under Grant Agreement No. 101178011 and from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
